Our client is a health non-profit organization whose primary aim is to make it easier for people in Kenya to be healthy by marketing affordable health products and services through private sector strategies.  In their brand portfolio are a number of products with dominant market shares in the health category.

The Senior Manager, ICT Services they seek will manage their Information Technology requirements and advice the organization on all IT related issues.

Job Purpose

This position will also help in determining opportunities for improvement of current systems and assessing future IT needs to support the achievement of the strategic plan. He/she will also be required to ensure availability and optimal function of the organization’s systems, including the core ERP system, lead in any necessary change requests, manage systems security, understand and help resolve business process issues.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following;

  • Provide technical leadership and implementation oversight for all ICT related projects and initiatives;
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of network servers and server rooms in accordance with the organization’s and international best practices to ensure business continuity;
  • Coordinate the helpdesk function which includes providing internal clients support and advice while resolving, in the shortest time possible, users’ problems;
  • Oversee hardware maintenance by putting in place an equipment acquisition and replacement plan as well as monitoring of IT hardware and software related contracts;
  • Define and review strategies to track cost efficiencies of all IT software, hardware and IT consumables;
  • Ensure the overall security of data and information in line with company policy;
  • Manage the organization’s IT business continuity plan including data backups and restoration;
  • Review the IT policies and procedures to ensure their relevance and alignment to the overall strategic plan;
  • Ensure necessary training for users and ICT staff to effectively meet the emerging changes in IT infrastructure;
  • Review the adequacy of IT resources in meeting the organizations strategic plan and annual objectives;
  • Develop and manage effective service level agreements with ICT services suppliers and other partners;
  • Act as key technical driver of the company’s knowledge management initiative; and
  • Manage, develop, mentor and coach the ICT team and raise the performance of the department.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology
  • At least eight (8) years’ experience, three (3) of which must be at management level
  • Professional qualifications (MCSE, MCSD, MCCP, ITIL, Prince, PMP and/or, CISA)
  • VMware, NETAP infrastructure
  • Oracle, SQL
  • Experience working with an ERP system
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, conflict resolution, strategic and analytical thinking
  • Strong planning and organization skills
  • Ability to drive change and innovation coupled with strong communication and negotiation skills
